Make a Recoverable Grant

The Boston Foundation is pleased to offer a selection of recoverable grant opportunities for our Donor Advised Fund holders to multiply the impact of their charitable dollars and support organizations that are advancing equity in Greater Boston.

If you do not have a TBF DAF and are interested in making a recoverable grant, you can learn more about our Donor Advised Funds and how to open a DAF by contacting Lory Lannon at lory.lannon@tbf.org.

Recoverable Grant Minimums

  • Recoverable Grant Portfolios: There is a minimum recoverable grant amount of $25,000 (per portfolio) to participate.

  • Custom Recoverable Grants: All donors are encouraged to consider recoverable grants to portfolios. However, TBF will facilitate direct recoverable grants to one of our portfolio organizations provided you can meet an organization’s minimum recoverable grant amount, which vary. There may be higher financial risk in making a recoverable grant to an individual organization. To make a custom recoverable grant, contact your TBF relationship manager.

Recommended Donation

To cover the cost of sourcing, curating, and ultimately executing recoverable grant transactions, the Boston Foundation is asking for an additional donation from donors along with your commitment to recoverable grant portfolios. This donation will help cover our expenses to avoid passing these costs off to recipient organizations, which could increase the interest rates they charge the individuals and enterprises they lend to.

We recommend a donation amounting to 2% of your total recoverable grant commitment. If you choose to make this additional donation, this amount will be charged to your DAF account.
